Funds raised help fund community mental health programs as well as assistance to at-risk and homeless veterans.
The Association for Mental Health and Wellness, working with the United Suffolk County Veterans, will be holding its 11th annual Chili Food and Pop-up Restaurant on Saturday, October 16, 2021 from 12:30 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.
The event – which attracts hundreds of chili (and non-chili) fans each year – raises funds to help those affected by mental illness and at-risk and homeless veterans, including those with PTSD and depression.
Attendees will enjoy a diverse, delicious and creative selection of vegan meat and chili dishes sourced from local food establishments, area businesses, and local talent. Prizes will be awarded in several categories including a “People’s Choice” prize.
To comply with security protocols in the event of a pandemic, there will be two seats: one at 12:30 p.m. and another at 3:00 p.m. There will be a raffle with exciting freebies that participants can access now online or in person at the event. Additionally, live music will be provided by School of Rock at 12:30 p.m. and rising country artist Carolyn Miller at 3:30 p.m.
