A MAN remains behind bars, while a woman has been released on bail after being charged in an altercation on Tamworth’s Main Street which left a teenager in hospital with head injuries. The 39-year-old and the 19-year-old spent the night behind bars before appearing in local court in Tamworth on Tuesday. The man made no request for release and was ordered to remain in detention until his next court date. The woman has been released on bail but must comply with conditions such as reporting to police three times a week. The couple were arrested by Oxley police after emergency services were called to report a scuffle broke out on Peel Street, near White Street, around 3 p.m. Monday. The older man and woman were arrested at the scene and taken to Tamworth Police Station, where they were subsequently charged. The woman faces charges of having custody of a knife in a public place, of being armed with intent to commit an offense and of fighting. The man had assault allegations resulting in actual bodily harm and a brawl against him. The couple have not yet been required to plead. Police told the chief that the injured man and his alleged attackers all knew each other. Business was adjourned until later this month.
