A pedophile who left Merseyside without telling police before running away for five years is back behind bars.
Christopher Spelman, from Kirkby, was sentenced to seven years in prison on March 6, 2014 after being convicted of indecent assault.
He was released on license in December 2016, but then moved to Cheshire without notifying the police, breaking the terms of his release. CheshireLive reports.

When he was recalled to prison, he fled for five years and is said to have camped outside.
Merseyside Police have made numerous calls to locate Spelman, warning the public that he may have grown a full beard and is known to have camped outside.
Officers also believe he could have spent time in Dorset during his years on the run.

But after a public briefing, Spelman was arrested by Kent Police in Folkestone, Kent on Tuesday morning (January 4) and returned to jail.
Merseyside Police Chief Inspector Paul Sutcliffe said: ‘Thanks to the hard work and commitment of the fugitive team, Spelman was located and returned to prison.
“Time is not an obstacle and we will spare no effort to find wanted persons, whether as part of ongoing investigations or when their license is revoked.”
