Man behind bars after pedestrian hit, killed in Louisville

A pedestrian walking on the shoulder of Bardstown Road is dead and a man is behind bars after leaving the scene, police said. The fatal crash happened Thursday afternoon in the 6900 block of Bardstown Road near the Fern Creek area. It’s not far from the intersection of Bardstown and the Gene Snyder. A spokesperson for the Louisville Metro Police Department said the victim was walking along the shoulder when a motorist, for unknown reasons, swerved over the shoulder, striking the man. Police said after hitting the pedestrian, the driver continued down Bardstown Road before being stopped by an LMPD officer. The driver was identified Friday as 22-year-old Kobe Stanton. Paramedics were called to the scene, transporting the victim to UofL Hospital. The man died of his injuries Friday morning. The charges against Stanton are not yet known. He was incarcerated in the Louisville prison. The traffic unit is investigating the accident.
