A pop-up restaurant is bringing a taste of the Philippines to Mississauga this month.

Kumain Kitchen opened in the Food District at Square One, 100 City Center Dr., with a menu featuring classic desserts and dishes from around the world, but with a Filipino twist.

Twin brothers Ryan and Jason Buising, who grew up in Mississauga, started the business, bringing their experience working alongside celebrity chef Humberto Sanchez to Bar Catalina in Port Credit.

The restaurant offers a menu of savory chicken dishes such as Filipino fried chicken with sauce, chicken inasal, chicken ube waffle and fried chicken, chicken sinigang sandwich, paz batchoy and boneless fried chicken furikake.

For those with a sweet tooth, offerings include buko pandan (a Filipino cold fruit salad), ube karioka (rice balls), and a milo drink.

This is the third time that Kumain Kitchen has opened a pop-up at Square One. They had businesses earlier in the spring and in September.

This pop up takes place from October 11 to 31, Monday to Saturday from 10:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.
