A six-month pop-up restaurant in Ramsgate will hold its last night on New Year’s Eve.

Hearth at the Empire Room opened in July and was led by chef Jack Hancock.

The University of Salford graduate learned his craft in Manchester alongside Aiden Byrne and Mark Prescott, then honed his skills with Michelin-starred Adam Byatt in London. He came to Ramsgate after Empire Room owner James Thomas offered him the opportunity to use the venue for Hearth.

Michelin-trained Jack said: “It was amazing here, I’m so grateful to the people from Thanet and beyond for joining me. I set out to make some bellies happy and it seems that’s exactly what I did.

Hearth has wowed diners, locals and visitors alike, with its seasonal, local and often sought-after menu featuring modern British dishes.

Among the star dishes that featured on the weekly changing menu were indigenous lobster with Charentais melon in a smoked lobster broth, butter roasted venison loin with stuffed fig and cavolo nero as well as bay leaf infused panna cotta and with tonka bean.

Many diners who have visited Hearth since its appearance in July have asked if Jack will be staying at Ramsgate.

He said: “I’m going to take some time in the new year to reflect on what the future holds. Watch this place.”

For its final New Year’s Eve party, Hearth is offering an exclusive seven-course tasting menu.

Hearth’s three-course offering will remain available until December 30, and a complimentary glass of house wine is included in the price of the Tuesday-Thursday menu.

The restaurant is open Tuesday to Saturday from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.
