Pop-up restaurant Penn State Berks is hosting an annual dinner on November 4

WYOMISSING, Pa. — Penn State Berks’ annual gourmet restaurant event is now taking reservations for its annual dinner, scheduled from 5:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Friday, November 4, in the first-floor lobby of the Gaige Technology and Business Innovation Building. on the Berks campus.

Under the supervision of Chef Patrick Daley, owner and manager of Squawk Cafe in Wyomissing, the students will present a four-course meal at their pop-up bistro, “The Patio.”

This year, the students conceptualized an Italian-American themed restaurant featuring a choice of braised ribs, peppered duck breast and pumpkin ravioli.

Seating is limited and reservations are required by calling 610-396-6314. Callers must advise time (between 5:30 p.m. and 8:30 p.m.), entree preference, and food allergies when booking. In addition, meals can be ordered “to go” in advance. The event is open to the general public and costs $40 per person.

The pop-up restaurant is the result of the capstone course titled “Advanced Food Production and Service Management,” which is part of the college’s hospitality management program. The concept was developed by Pauline Milwood, assistant professor of hotel management at Penn State Berks.

The event has taken place every year since 2018 – except for 2020, when the pop-up restaurant was not an in-person event, making this the fifth year that students have engaged with the project.

This year’s pop-up restaurant student managers are Adam Brezina, Michaela Burton, Jennifer Grant, Patrick Hera, Daniel Horning, Alexander Jozwiak, Richard Kirkpatrick, Elizabeth Kubicar, Hailey Lesik and Jillian Schultz.

The event was funded in part by Elsa L. and John W. Bowman Curriculum Endowment. For more information or to make reservations, contact Pauline Milwood at 610-396-6314 or [email protected]
